Amanda was born in Fremont, Nebraska and raised from early childhood in the village of Creston, Nebraska. She attended Creston Elementary and graduated from Leigh High School. She joined the Navy as an Intelligence Specialist and spent over seven years serving our country. While in the Navy, Amanda married Lonnie Palmer and together they have one son, Christopher.
Amanda's time in the Navy took her all around the world, eventually landing her back in Nebraska. Amanda separated from the Navy in 2009, expecting to raise her family in her home state but her drive to make an impact on the world pushed her back to the world of intelligence. Amanda spent over a year in Iraq and nearly five more in England. Missing her extended family, friends and the familiarity of home, Amanda came home to finish her education in 2015.
Amanda graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Creighton University in 2017. When Amanda finished her undergraduate degree, she went to work as a legal assistant in the real estate tax credit department at Kutak Rock, LLP, a prestigious Omaha law firm. The department focused on tax credits related to low-income housing, historic restorations and renewable energy investments. It was there, inspired by the cadre of attorneys in the department, Amanda realized her desire to practice law.
She went on to attend Creighton School of Law on a partial Dean's Scholarship and receive her Juris Doctorate Degree in 2020 by completing the accelerated two-year program. While in law school, Amanda was involved in the Military Law Society, Intellectual Property Society, Business Law Society and Women Law Students Association. She also completed the courses necessary to be a mediator in Nebraska. Shortly after beginning law school, Amanda realized just how much she missed living the rural Nebraska life. Having completed her education, she has left the city, and will now provide legal services in Valentine, Atkinson and the surrounding areas.
Amanda is licensed in Nebraska and her practice will consist of corporate formations, will, trust and estate planning, probate, family and civil mediation and real estate matters. Amanda is involved in local and national veteran organizations, Quilt of Valor and other quilting clubs throughout the state.
